Last Arcana — Audience-Guided Audio Drama

Stemming from a Discord server where ideas were given and exchanged freely, TeslaDinosaur and the Last Arcana Team have written, developed, and produced a new story.

Most people are familiar with the idea of Tarot Cards – originally a game for the nobles of the Italian court, Tarrochi was never intended for divination.

It wasn’t until the 1700s that Frenchman Antoine Court de Gébelin wrote a work of fiction claiming that the cards held ancient Egyptian secrets, specifically the “Book of Thoth”.

Over time these cards have been ascribed multiple meanings, both upright and reverse.

The use of Tarot as a game and as a divination tool is not unique – it’s their purpose.

What makes Last Arcana different is that the writer and director here claims these are not mutually exclusive ideas. Last Arcana takes the listener on a journey, guided by the hand of fate, where the embodiment of cards forms characters (as Allison Gunn describes in here 2024 article here) but where ultimately the audience has the deciding vote.
